Working together to foster a
lifelong love of music!

The DMYS mission is to supplement school music programs. We require our students to be members of their school orchestra/band program. A one-year waiver will be accepted only with your approval of a verified conflict and belief in the student’s intent to return to the program.

Music teachers and directors train and guide students every week. Participation in DMYS further challenges the advancing student. Our musicians bring their skills and love of music back to the classroom, further strengthening school programs. To all those who work in our music education community, we extend a heartfelt THANK YOU; together, we’ll inspire students and instill a lifetime love of music that extends far beyond the classroom.

Actions and QUICK LINKS for Music educators:

  • Refer a student to the orchestra that best fits their ability (our four orchestras have grade and music level requirements). See the chart below for quick reference.

  • Prepare a student for an audition with DMYS Audition Requirements.

    • DMYS holds open auditions each May for the following season. We hold limited ongoing Saturday auditions for open sections throughout our season.

    • Twice a year, in November and February, we hold an Open House; students can participate in rehearsal and audition (for open sections) with the audition fee waived.

  • Be our guest at a performance! Request tickets through “Contact Us Today” below.

  • Connect with us! “Contact Us Today” using the button below.

    • Share your questions or ideas about how we can strengthen the music community together!

    • Stay informed - be added to our music educator list. DMYS values your time and we won’t abuse your attention. Educators can expect to receive timely DMYS information via email 3-5 times each year.

Orchestra Information to help prepare students for auditioning

As a public-school teacher, I see the benefits - my students who participate in both groups bring that enthusiasm, passion, and excitement that they get from having peers that have the same interests as them outside of school back into the classroom. I think that the fun and joy of music making builds stronger communities in both places.
